Frequently Asked Questions

How do you pronounce OESH?

“OESH” is pronounced like the sound in ‘ocean’…a one syllable long o sound with a silent e.

Where did the name OESH come from?

A great friend from college came up with the name! Much as we’ve done with the idea of footwear, when she coined it, she called out that “O-E-S-H” are the letters of s-h-o-e turned around and inside-out.

Where are OESH sold?

OESH are only sold from our website, at OESHshoes.com/shop/. This distribution system allows us to present you the lowest possible price for a pair of OESH, without any brick & mortar markup. Even better, we’ve established a superb customer service policy that allows you to ship your OESH back to us FOR FREE for any size or style exchange!

Are the OESH Warriors and Dreams washable? How should I care for my Sandals? What about the Townies and Salons?

Yes! Simply send the Warriors or Dreams into your washing machine on a gentle cycle using warm water, with the insocks separated. With those insocks out to air dry, your shoes can even be popped into the dryer for about 20 minutes on a low temperature setting, or just allow them to air dry overnight. Sandals can be washed in a washing machine or rinsed with a hose, then air dried, too. Salons and Townies can also be washed in your washing machine on a warm gentle cycle, and then set out to air dry overnight.  These amazing soles will not mark the machines while being washed or tumbled. And best…all of your OESH styles will sparkle like new in the morning!

Are the OESH Warriors a running shoe or a walking shoe?

Both. We actually like to say that the Warriors are “All Purpose Performance Trainers” because they work so well for any athletic activity, whether/not it is sport-specific. Warriors–and previous OESH performance styles–have proven to be especially impressive as a training shoe for runners.

Can I wear my Warriors to the gym?

Yes! Our design concept promotes wearing all OESH footwear all day, every day–whether you are working out or simply busy. Also, the sole is non-marking. Once you get them, you may never want to take them off, precisely the way OESH were designed for you.

Is OESH a women’s shoe or a men’s shoe?

The core footwear and body wellness aspects which OESH addresses apply to both women and men. However, OESH is a unique footwear company, entirely due to our foundation of being led by a Harvard Medical Doctor (which is, frankly, the high end of health prevention and scholarship), no less! Given that women have a far, far greater medical need (women have over twice as many knee replacements, five times the rate of forefoot maladies of neuromas and suffer bunions at over ten times the rate of men), and a lifetime of lousy healthy footwear choices, OESH has lasered in, from our beginning, to develop a sophisticated brand for women, first. But heh, plenty of guys love identifying as an OESHer because of our matchless health and wellness benefits, and our OESH Warrior now fits up to size 12 men’s (the size 13 OESH) and we even created a line of Sandals–Apollo and Ares–just for guys, too!

Is there any special size I need to order?

The length of OESH footwear is accurate in relation to typical USA Women’s footwear sizing, but width and especially forefoot volume is a frequently underestimated issue in obtaining an optimal fit. OESH are constructed to fit the unique anatomy of a female foot–which is much more shapely (such as an hourglass) than is a man’s foot (which looks more like the shoebox your Warriors arrive in), leading to tremendous OESHer satisfaction with our unique fit. Note that if you have a very wide forefoot or if you wear inserts/orthotics, we then encourage you to go up a half-size to accommodate your natural shape and needs to deliver you appropriate roominess. OESH are very orthotic-friendly shoes!

Are the OESH Dreams, Warriors, Townies, Salons, and Sandals vegan?

Yes. There are no components in these shoe styles derived from animals or animal by-products.

What is the OESH Sole made from?

A non-marking, carbon-free, proprietary engineered elastomer–with no heavy metals. OESH Footwear has, uniquely, a unit sole, meaning there is no separate midsole or outsole, eliminating the need for toxic adhesives. OESH does not use–and never has–any EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate), the cheap, petroleum and chlorine-based foam common to all big brand footwear, in any of our sustainably made products.

Does OESH have any Patents?

Yes. Our designs are legally protected in the United States and abroad in various ways including but not limited to US Patents D880826, D901849, D924550, and D992265.

What is the phone number for OESH Shoes?
